First full moon of Spring
Tonight I waited until the last breath of daylight to take hay up to the horses. They are enjoying the tender new grasses, and are content with grazing. So, adding hay to their diet is just an extra at this point. The gentle sounds of darkness decended on me as I walked the wheelbarrow up the hill. Both horses and one cat followed me quietly. Overhead we heard an owl begin to hoot, and watched while the full moon made a grand entrance. The luster of it's face shining like a polished pearl, hanging in soft yellow folds of whispy clouds. All set in a background of changing hues of blue. Our creator is unequaled in His artistry!
This is the kind of night that beckons me to stay out all night! Listen to the night and wonder at the stars.
"Never loose your sense of wonder", something I learned at Camp Wawona from Elder De. He said that all the time. And, now, I know how true it is.
Many such nights I've spent on horseback, taking my friends on night rides. Trust the horse, even when you can't see the trail ahead. Feel his hooves touching the ground, listen to his steady breathing. Look for the glow worms. Breathe in the magic. Nothing compares to a moonlight ride on your favorite horse, with your favorite people.
